Shin Ties for 2nd at 66th Annual Western Intercollegiate

Santa Cruz, Calif. Junior Justin Shin tied for second at the 66th Annual Western Intercollegiate with a three round score of 2-under par, 208. in the final round, Shin was leading the tournament at 5-under par with three holes to go but bogeyed his last three to drop to second.

As a team, NM State finish 10th overall at 80-over par, 1130. Freshman Cosme Beamonte was 13-over par, 223 (73-75-75) and is tied for 36th overall. Senior Gaston De La Torre tied for 48h at 16-over par, 226 (79-77-70).

Senior Zachery Fullerton was 27-over par, 237 (79-81-77), tying for 74th, while junior Derek Baade tied for 80th overall at 30-over par, 240 (77-80-83). Freshman Brett Walker was 35-over par, 245 (80-86-79), tying for 83rd overall.  

Texas won the tournament at 10-over par, followed by Stanford (+14), UCLA (+17), Southern California (+39) and California (+50).  Patrick Rodgers of Stanford won the individual title at 4-under par.

The Aggies will be back in action nom April 30-May 2 for the 2012 WAC Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
