LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State men's golf team will travel to Santa Cruz, Calif., for the 65th Annual Western Intercollegiate, April 16-17. The tournament will be played at the presigious Pasatiempo Golf Club, a par 70, 6,497-yard course. This will be a six player per team tournament, counting five scores per round.

"This will probably be the best tournament we will play in during the regular season because it has the strongest field and probably the best golf course," Lieberwirth said. "This is a great opportunity to play well and get some momentum going into the conference championships."

The Aggies will travel senior Tim Madigan, juniors Gaston De La Torre, Joon Lee and Zachery Fullerton, along with sophomore Justin Shin and freshman Collin Pratt.

Last year the Aggies finished eighth overall with a three-round score of 51-over par. Madigan led the Aggies with a 5-over par, 215. He carded a 2-over par, 72 in the final round and tied for 19th overall. De La Torre had the low round for NM State with a 1-over par, 71in the final round. He finished the tournament tied for 23rd at 7-over par, 217.

The Aggies will face some stiff competition at this year's Western Intercollegiate including San Jose State (host school), Arizona State, Augusta State, San Diego State, Stanford, Cal, UC-Irvine, UCLA, Colorado, Denver, Hawai'i, Oregon, USC and Washington.

Tee times are set for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, as the teams will play 36 holes on day one, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m. as well.
