Laredo, Texas - Junior Gaston De La Torre is tied for fourth overall at the Border Olympics Golf Tournament in Laredo, Texas after a two round score of 7-under par, 137. De La Torre recorded rounds of 5-under par, 67 and 2-under par, 70, while also tallying eight birdies on the day and just one bogey.
"Gaston is playing as good of golf as I have seen him play," head coach Scott Lieberwirth said. "He is playing so consistent. Tim really had a good day as well and those two guys carried us today. I told the team that in order to be in these tournament we have to get help from the 3-4-5 players on our team and we didn't get that today at all."
As a team, the Aggies are currently 10th overall with a team score of 1-under par, 575 (287-288) after two rounds of play.
Senior Tim Madigan carded two rounds of 2-under par, 70 for a two round score of 4-under par, 140. Madigan recorded five birdies and an eagle in the first two rounds and is tied for 12th. Sophomore Will Holdridge is tied for 76th overall after rounds of 3-over par, 75 and 4-over par, 76 for a two round score of 7-over par, 151. Holdridge carded five birdies in the two rounds.
Junior Joon Lee fired rounds of 3-over par, 75 and 6-over par, 78 for a two round score of 9-over par, 153. Lee marked down four birdies on the day. Freshman Collin Pratt is 90th overall after carding a two round score of 10-over par, 154. Pratt struggled in round one with a 10-over par, 82 but fired back in round two with an even-par, 72.
Arkansas and Oklahoma are tied for first as a team at 23-under par, followed by Baylor (-14), Liberty (-9) and Indiana (-6). Arkansas' Sebastian Cappelen leads the tournament as an individual at 11-under par.
The Aggies will be back in action for the final round of the Border Olympics Golf Tournament beginning at 7:00 a.m. (MT)
