Eugene, Ore. (March 21) - The New Mexico State men's golf team is currently in sixth place at the 2011 Oregon Duck Invitational, at the par-72, 7020 yard, Eugene Country Club.

The Aggies fired a two round score of 590 (291-299) and sit two strokes behind WAC foe San Jose State.  No. 1 Oklahoma State leads all teams with a 570 while No. 28 Oregon is three strokes behind the Cowboys.

Senior Tim Madigan leads the Aggies after a two-round score of 2-under par, 146. He started the day playing well and carded a 2-under-par 70 in round one before bringing in a 4-over in the second round.  He tallied seven birdies and an eagle on the day and is currently in a tie for 25th overall.

"It was pretty challenging today because it was raining all day long," head coach Scott Lieberwirth said.  "Thought we played pretty well the first 27 holes but gave up a lot of shots in the last nine holes. We need to go out tomorrow and play like we know how and move up the leader board."

Gaston De La Torre played consistently during the two rounds carding a 3-over-par 147 while marking an eagle on the par-5, 485-yard hole No. 8 in round one.  Joon Heui Lee shot an even par in round one with three bogeys and three birdies, but finished the day 4-over-par with a two round score of 148.  De La Torre and Lee are tied for 28th and 34th respectively.

Justin Shin is tied for 40th with a 5-over 149 (75-74), while Will Holdridge rounds out the Aggie lineup in 66th with a 10-over-par 154 (76-78).

The Aggies will be back in action for the final day of the Oregon Duck Invitational Tuesday morning, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (MT)
