NM State Men's Golf to Compete in Oregon Duck Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State men's golf team will head out to Eugene, Ore., March 21-22 for the 2011 Oregon Duck Invitational. The tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,854 yard, Eugene Country Club.

"We are getting into the meat of our spring schedule," head coach Scott Lieberwirth said. "Our last four tournaments of the spring before conference will be some of the strongest fields we will see int he regular season. This is a good time for our team to begin to play some strong golf. We need to begin to gain some confidence going into the WAC tournament. We will see a lot of top teams in the nation and I think this is a good challenge for our team."

The Aggies will travel senior Tim Madigan, junior Gaston De La Torre, junior Joon Lee, sophomore Justin Shin and sophomore Will Holdridge.

Last time out the Aggies finished ninth overall at the 2011 Fresno State Lexus Classic with a three-round score of 45-over par. Madigan led the Aggies with a 1-under par, 215, placing tied for fourth overall. He would earn WAC Golfer of the Week for his play in Fresno.

NM State will face some stiff competition in Oregon including, Idaho, Alabama-Birmingham, UC-Davis, Pepperdine, Washington, Oklahoma State, San Francisco, Washington State, Colorado, San Jose State, Portland, Santa Clara, Oregon State and host school Oregon.
