LAS VEGAS, Nev. – New Mexico State continues to lead after the second round of the WAC Men's Golf Championship. The Aggies followed up yesterday's 272 with a 285 in windy conditions Saturday at the 7,066-yard, par-72 Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev., holding a 15-stroke lead over Idaho.

“We played another solid round of golf today,” head coach Mike Dirks said. “The wind picked up a little but we managed to be the only team under par in the second round. Even with a 15-stroke lead going into the final round we need to continue to play our game and execute our game plan. I think the guys are really playing smart golf and are confident going into tomorrow’s final round.”

The reigning WAC champion Aggies, who are trying to win their seventh conference crown in nine years, sank 19 birdies on the day.

Sophomore Kenneth Fadke II continues to lead the tournament as an individual at 8-over par, 136 (64-72). He carded a round of even par, 72 in the second, recording three birdies. Teammate junior Pat Beyhan is just two strokes back at 6-under par, 138 (67-71) and is in third-place. Beyhan was 1-under par, in the second round with four birdies on his scorecard.

Junior Brett Walker was 2-over par, 74 in his second round and is at even par, 144 (70-74) after two rounds of play. Walker is tied for seventh overall. He had three birdies in his second round.
