NM State Menís Golf Ninth at Thunderbird Invite

Tempe, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men’s golf team fired a second round team score of 4-over par, 288 and are now 7-over par, 575 (287-288) with one round to go at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.

"I think we are play pretty good golf overall," head coach Mike Dirks said. "We just aren't making a lot of putts and not recording enough birdies. We are hitting good shots just not finishing the holes. I want to see us come out competitive tomorrow and finish strong."

Freshman Luis Medina continues to lead the Aggies, carding a second round score of 2-over par, 73. Medina is tied for 14th overall at 2-under par, 140 (67-73). Sophomore Kenneth Fadke II is tied for 35th overall after a round two score of 2-over par, 73. Fadke is 2-over par, 144 (71-73).

Brett Walker is 3-over par, 75 after two rounds of the tournament, tying for 45th overall. He fired a 1-under par, 70 in round two. Senior Willy Hogan carded a 3-over par, 74, in the second round, placing him in a tie for 58th at 6-over par, 148 (74-74).

Junior Pat Beyhan rounded out the Aggie competitors with a second round score of 1-over par, 72. This was a five stroke improvement from round one. Beyhan is 7-over par, 149 (77-72), tying for 62nd.

Arizona State leads the tournament at 25-under par, followed by Iowa State (-15), Iowa (-13), Arizona (-10), Pepperdine (-2) and Wichita State (-2). Jon Rahm of Arizona State leads the tournament at 16-under par.

The Aggies and the rest of the competitors will be back on course, Sunday morning for the final round of competition.
