EL PASO, TEXAS -- The New Mexico State men's golf team began competition at the 2012 Price's Give Em Five Invite at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas. The tournament was scheduled to play two round on day one but due to darkness round two was cut short and will resume first thing Saturday morning prior to the final round beginning at 8:15 a.m.
In round one, NM Stat carded a team score of 24-over par, 312 and are currently in 12th place.
Derek Baade led the Aggies with a 4-over par, 76 in round one placing him in a tie for 42nd overall, followed by Justin Shin who shot a 5-over par, 77, as he sits in a tie for 50th.
Willy Hogan was 7-over par, 79 in round one tying him for 56h, while Kenneth Fadke and Brett Walker each carded rounds of 8-ober par, 80 in round one and are tied for 59th overall.
The Aggies also had three individuals in the tournament. Taylor Mihok had a great day with an even-par, 72, placing him tied for 12th. Joey Martinez was 3-over par, 75 in round one and is tied for 36th overall. Zach Adams rounded out the Aggie golfers with a 12-over par, 84 placing him in 72nd place.
Utah leads the team tournament at 7-under par, followed by UT-Arlington (-4), Idaho (E), UTEP (+4) and Oral Roberts (+8).
