LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Dec. 18) - New Mexico State head softball coach Kathy Rodolph announced the signing of Brennalyn Nakamura to a financial aid agreement to join the Aggies for the spring 2013 season.
Nakamura comes to NM State after one semester at College of Southern Nevada - Henderson. Prior to CSN, Nakamura played four years at the second base position for Lahainaluna High School in Lahaina, Hawai'i. Nakamura helped the Lunas to claim the league championship during her junior and senior seasons. The Lunas finished 18th in the state of Hawai'i each of those years. She was named League All-Star second baseman in 2009-12 and Player of the Year as a junior in 2011. Nakamura played a key roll in her team placing second in the MIL league as a sophomore and third during her freshman season.
"We are happy to bring Brennalyn (Nakamura) into our Aggie softball family," Rodolph said of the freshman transfer. "Her athleticism, intensity and speed will help our team this upcoming season and for years to come."
Nakamura's younger sister Haley Nakamura signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period in November to join the Aggies in the fall of 2013.
NM State opens the 2013 season on Feb. 8, against Nebraska at 3 p.m., at the NM State Softball Complex.
