LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State head softball coach Kathy Rodolph announced the signing of sophomore Fiana Finau for the 2104 season. The roster addition comes less than one month before the first pitch of the Aggie-hosted Hotel Encanto Invitational, which begins the 2014 season.
Finau comes to NM State from San Diego State, where she played the 2012 season with the Aztecs. She played 32 games at SDSU and started 20. In her 61 at bats, Finau had a .230 batting average and hit three home runs for seven RBI. She totaled 14 hits and scored four runs of her own to finish the season with a .410 slugging percentage.
"Aggie Softball welcomes Fiana Finau into our Aggie softball family. Fiana has good power offensively and a strong arm. We believe she has great presence and has the potential to be a difference maker for our team," Rodolph said.
The Aggies begin the 2014 season at home against Florida State on Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. at the NM State Softball Complex.
