LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State baseball team ended it seven-game losing streak on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning by senior shortstop Zach Voight to defeat Fresno State 2-1 at Presley Askew Field, Friday, May 11.

With the count 2-1 in the bottom of the 12th, Voight hammered a ball over the left-field wall to end the Aggie losing streak and take NM State to 31-18 overall and 8-6 in Western Athletic Conference play.  Fresno State falls to 22-24 overall and 5-9 in league play.

The game was scoreless through seven innings of play before Fresno State put the first run up on the board in the top of the eighth on a double to left-centerfield.  The Aggies matched that run in the bottom of the eighth when senior left fielder Tanner Rust tallied an RBI on a walk.  It was his 23rd RBI of the year and his nation-leading 60th walk of the season.

Starting pitcher Adam Mott had a great night as he went 7 1/3 innings and struck out four batters while only walking one. He gave up the only Bulldog run of the game and senior closer Scott Coffman earned his third win of the year as he worked for 4 2/3 innings and struck out five Bulldog batters on the evening.  Fresno State starter Justin Haley worked seven innings and tallied nine K's on the night but Taylor Garrison fell to 0-2 on the year after giving up the go-ahead run to the Aggie shortstop.

NM State and Fresno State wrap up the three-game series on "Senior Day" at Presley Askew Field, Saturday, May 12 with first pitch set for 1:05p.m. (MT).  Listen to the action in Las Cruces on KSNM AM 570 with Jeff Matthews giving the play-by-play.
