LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State track and field team continues its 2014 indoor season when they travel back to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Cherry and Silver competition on Jan. 24-25.
The Aggies were up in Albuquerque on Jan. 18, for the Lobo Collegiate Invitational to start their season. NM State competed well but knows there is room for improvement.
The team looks to begin those improvements immediately at the Cherry and Silver.
Senior Alishia Perkins performed well at the Lobo Invite and will continue her improvement in her final indoor season for the Aggies. She competed in the 60-and-200-meter dash.
Senior Zoe Meade also competed in the shot put, where she took first place in her flight with a throw of 12.37m (40’7”). Meade broke into the top ten all-time for the Aggies in the shot put.
NM State was also represented well by several freshman, including Paige Patterson, who finished second in the 400-meter dash. She’ll look to continue her early-career success in the Cherry and Silver.
Fellow freshman Akuadasou Ezenyilimba also performed well in the weight throw and the shot put. Both freshmen and other underclassmen will be relied upon as the Aggies continue to improve as the season progresses.
After their trip to Albuquerque, the Aggies travel to Lubbock, Texas for the Masked Rider on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
