Aggies Finish Second Day at Diving Regional

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The New Mexico State diving team concluded day two of the 2014 NCAA Zone E Regional on Friday.  The three Aggie divers competed in the 3-meter event inside the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Natatorium.

During the preliminary round, sophomore Lauren Reifel was the top finisher for NM State.  Reifel wound up in 49th place with a total six-dive score of 212.35.

Fellow sophomore Audrey Ruiz marked a 203.95 total score to finish in 52nd place while senior Jaymee Porter had a 55th-place finish after diving for a total score of 192.90.

For the second-straight day, Idaho’s Paige Hunt was the only Western Athletic Conference diver to advance to the 18-diver final round of the day’s event.  Hunt finished the final round in 16th place with a score of 570.85.  Haley Ishimatsu of Southern California won the 3-meter event with a finals’ score of 661.55.

The Aggie diving team concludes participation at the zone regional on Saturday with the final event of the meet, the platform diving event.  Preliminaries for the event are set to start at 11 a.m. (MDT) with the final round scheduled for a 12:50 p.m. start.  Fans can follow the divers live with live scoring at www.divemeet.com
