LAS CRUCES, N.M. (May 2)-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team was honored when senior Alannah Lawrence, junior Maria Spies and freshman Tricia Kiss were named to the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-America Honorable Mention Team.

“It is nice for our swimmers to be recognized on this list,” Aggie head coach Rick Pratt said. “With a team record of five NCAA B’ cuts this year, along with 10 school records, it is satisfying to show the progress our program has made.”

Lawrence concluded her Aggie career with her second consecutive WAC individual crown in the 100 breaststroke with a NCAA B cut time (1:01.35) at the 2011 conference meet. Additionally, Spies scored in the 100 breast with a fourth-place finish and NCAA B’ cut (1:02.94).

In her first conference championship meet, Kiss became the first Aggie to earn the WAC Freshman of the Year award in school history. She won her first title in the 400 individual medley (4:16.62), which was also a NCAA B’ cut.
