Ruiz to Compete at NCAA Zone Diving Championships

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (March 11)-New Mexico State freshman diver Audrey Ruiz is competing at the NCAA Zone 'E' Diving Championships, Thursday, March 14 to Saturday, March 16 at the Air Force Academy Cadet Natatorium in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Ruiz qualified for zones after recording 275.18 points and second place on the 1-meter spring board against in-state rival New Mexico, Feb. 2.

"Audrey has had an outstanding freshman year," diving coach Molly Parker said. "Over the course of the season, she has learned several new dives, and her score has consistently improved. She is proving to be a great 1-meter diver with her 3-meter and platform improving immensely as well. Audrey has made tremendous strides this season, and I am excited to see her perform at the NCAA Zone E Diving Meet."

Ruiz competes in the 1-meter, March 14, 3-meter, March 15 and platform, March 16. At the WAC Championships, she scored with an eighth-place finish on the 1-meter (250.95) and ninth-place showing on the 3-meter (245.35).
