LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State cross country squad will travel across the country for one of the biggest meets in the country, the Paul Short Invitational this Friday.

The Paul Short Invite has 42 teams attending this year on the campus of Lehigh University, which is located in Bethlehem, Pa.

"This is a big weekend," head coach Orin Richburg said.

The Paul Short Invite will feature three top-25 teams on the men's side and five top-25 teams on the women's.

The NM State team will head to Bethlehem with their top ten runners for the men and top eight for the women.

Two time All-WAC selection Ian Ruybalid will run for the men and 2009 WAC Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the year for the women, Courtney Schultz.

"We're excited for this weekend to see where we stack up in the nation and the region," assistant coach Paul Harkins said. "This is probably the biggest meet any of our kids have ever run."

The Paul Short Invitational begins this Friday, Oct. 1, at 11a.m (ET) for the men's 8K and at 11:45 (ET) for the women's 5K.
