Cross Country Begins Season in Ruidoso

LAS CRUCES, N.M.— The New Mexico State men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Ruidoso on Friday, Aug. 29, to compete in the Texas Tech- NM State- UTEP Triangular.

“As a staff we are very excited for this year,” assistant coach Christopher Huff said. “We have a great group of young men and women representing NM State cross country.”

Senior returners Hab Rubio, Diana Hawk and Megan McNally set the stage for the Aggies coming back strong from last season. Hawk was named first team all-conference while Rubio and McNally were named second team all-conference during the 2013 season.

Newcomers Jeremy Santisteva, Crissey and Cassey Amberg and Mikayla Pulliam all look to make their college debut for the Aggies during the Ruidoso meet and are expected to perform well for NM State.

“We look at the way the student-athletes perform during this first meet and see how they handle the competition and how they compete at this level, especially as freshman,” Huff said.

Following the Triangular, the Aggies will compete in will be held on Sept. 6 as they travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for the UNM Lobo Invite.
