LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State cross country team heads to Ogden, Utah where they will compete in the NCAA Regional Round on Friday, Nov. 15.
The Aggies last competed at the WAC Championships in Seattle, Wash., on Nov. 2. The women’s team finished fourth and the men’s team finished sixth.
The women’s team was led by juniors Diana Hawk and Megan McNally, who finished seventh and 14th, respectively, in the 5K.
Hawk has paced the Aggies in every race this season and did so again in the WAC Championships. She finished with a time of 18:24.40 and earned first-team all-WAC honors.
The men’s team was led by junior Hab Rubio, who finished 11th, with a time of 25:57.30 in the 8K, and earned second team all-WAC honors.
This marked the third time that Rubio has finished first for the Aggies on the season.
Rubio was followed by juniors Nathan Starr and Evan Bekes, who finished 20th and 28th, respectively.
The Aggies have put together a strong cross country season, including three consecutive races where the women’s team finished first overall, and look to cap it off on a high note at the NCAA Regionals.
Aggies that qualify for the NCAA Finals will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.
