Two Aggies Named WAC Athlete of the Week in XC

LAS CRUCES, N.M.-Jonah Ruyablid and Sarabel Bojorquez of the New Mexico State University cross country teams have been named the Western Athletic Conference men's and women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 1-7.

Ruybalid, a senior from Los Lunas, N.M. (Los Lunas HS), continued his winning streak for NM State when he finished first for the Aggies and third overall with a time of 24:59.9 in the Grand Canyon Invitational. Ruybalid has finished first for NM State in every event he has competed in this season. His time helped earn the Aggies a dominating win at the meet, the first win for the men's team this season. 

Bojorquez, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz. (Central Arizona College), earned her top finish for NM State this past weekend when she finished first for NM State and fourth overall with a time of 18:36.0 at the Grand Canyon Invitational. Bojorquez helped the Aggies finish second as a team, defeating Arizona State and Northern Arizona University, regionally ranked No. 9 in the West region. 

This is the first time Ruybalid and Bojorquez have earned the award in their careers at NM State.
