Soccer Falls 0-1 to GCU

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The New Mexico State soccer team dropped its lone road game of the week 0-1 at Grand Canyon University, Friday, Oct. 18, in Phoenix, Ariz.

The loss is the second straight to the Lopes, but first time being shut out since Sept. 29 against Seattle U. The Aggies move to 4-10-2 this season and 1-6-1 in Western Athletic Conference play.

NM State had seven shots on the game, while GCU managed 13. Six of the Aggies shots were on goal, and just three came in the final 45 minutes of play. Cassie Beckwith scored the only goal of the game, giving the Lopes the win over the Aggies. It came off an assist from a free kick.

The Aggies return home to the NM State Soccer Complex on Friday, Oct. 25 to take on Seattle U for the second time this season. The Aggies then host Idaho on Sunday, Oct. 27.
