LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Dec. 1)-The New Mexico State soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2009-10 academic year. The Aggies posted a 3.33 grade point average to qualify for the honor.

“I am extremely proud of these young women,” head coach Michael Needham said. “The ability to balance a challenging academic environment and NCAA Division I athletics is a daunting task, and our players have embraced this challenge and excelled in the classroom. We are honored to receive this award, and believe it is a great step in building the culture of our program as we move swiftly into the future.”

A total of 634 soccer teams (194 men, 440 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
