LAS VEGAS, NEV. – New Mexico State junior guard Danesia Williamson was named to the 2014 Western Athletic Conference all-tournament team after an impressive performance this week in Las Vegas, the conference office announced Saturday, March 15.
Williamson scored a career-high 37 points in the quarterfinals win over Texas Pan American to start the tournament on Wednesday. She went 17-19 from the line, setting a new WAC Tournament and NM State record. Her 37 points tied the junior for the second-most points scored in a single game for the Aggies. She came back in the semifinals game on Friday to score 26 points with six assists. She averaged 31.5 points in the tournament with 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
Williamson is joined on the all-tournament team by Kacie Sowell and Ashley Ward of Seattle U and Alyssa Charlston and Stacey Barr of Idaho. Barr was named as the most valuable player in the tournament.
