Spence Resigns as NM State Women's Basketball Coach

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Late Saturday afternoon, NM State women's basketball head coach Darin Spence resigned his post as the floor general of the Aggies.

As a result, Spence and NM State Athletic Director Dr. McKinley Boston both released the following statements to the media.

Statement from NM State Athletics Director Dr. McKinley Boston Announcing Spence Resignation -

"Coach Spence has resigned his position as Head Women's basketball coach effective April 30, 2011. Coach Spence has managed his program in a very professional manner over the past eight years and I thank him for that service."

Statement from Women's Basketball Coach Darin Spence on his Resignation -

"I want to thank New Mexico State University and the City of Las Cruces for the opportunity to be the head women's basketball coach over the last eight years. We made a lot of strides in this program and had lots of firsts and that is something that I'm very proud of. I'm just at the point in my career, where I need a new challenge."
