LAS VEGAS (March 11)-The 2011 WAC Tournament run ended for the New Mexico State men’s basketball team with an 81-63 loss to Boise State in the tournament semifinals. The Aggies had four players in double-digits with sophomore forward Tyrone Watson leading the way with 15 points.

Junior forward Troy Gillenwater and junior guard Hernst Laroche added 12 points each. Freshman guard Christian Kabongo had 11 points and a career-high eight assists.

The Aggies missed their first seven shots of the game and fell behind 13-4 before Kabongo hit the team’s first field goal at 14:39.

With NM State trailing 17-8, Watson sank a tip-in that started a 10-2 rally. The Aggies surged back to cut the Boise State lead to one, 19-18, at 7:34.

The Broncos answered with 10 of the next 12 points and extended their lead to 10 points. Laroche narrowed the gap to eight points, 34-26, at halftime with a jump shot at the buzzer.

At the break, Watson paced the Aggies with seven points. Gillenwater added five, while Kabongo supplied four points and four assists off the bench.

In the second half, NM State couldn’t find its rhythm to cut into Boise State’s lead. Turnovers hampered the Aggies in the game, and Broncos exploited the 3-point line, going 9-of-15.
