LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the all-region teams Tuesday, Dec. 7, with junior setter Jennah DeVries earning West Region honors and senior outside hitter Kayleigh Giddens earning honorable mention honors.

DeVries, a native of Sedalia, Colo., earned the honors for the second consecutive year as she led the Aggies and was second in the Western Athletic Conference with 11.06 assists per set.  Dani Mafua of Hawaii, was also named to the West Region team and didn't have many more assists than DeVries as she averaged 11.19 per set.

Giddens led the WAC and is currently fifth in the nation in kills per after averaging 4.84 per set.  She also led the WAC in points per set with 5.33 on the year, which ranks her sixth nationally.

"Jennah and Kayleigh had good seasons' statistically and we are happy for them to be honored," head coach Mike Jordan said.  "It is well deserved."

Giddens finished her career with two first-team All-WAC selections (2009-10), two WAC all-tournament selections, a 2010 Preseason All-WAC selection, and five WAC Player of the Week honors.  She was also named to the COBRA Magazine Southwest Region team and earned all-tournament honors at the Mean Green Classic (2009) in Denton, Texas and the Arizona Wildcat Invitational (2010) in Tucson.

Giddens finished on top of the record books with 542 kills this past season. She surpassed Jonna Steffens who tallied 499 kills in 1990 and also surpassed other great Aggie hitters such as Alice Borden (495) and Angela Lobendahn-Peterson (494) after posting 17 kills against Boise State, Nov. 13. Giddens is the first Aggie to ever record 500 or more kills in a season.

She also destroyed the career-kills per set record (and the single-season record as well). Giddens averaged 4.42 kills per set in her career, while averaging 4.00 kills per set in 2009 and posted 4.84 kills per set this season. Lindsey Yon held the previous career record at 3.84 kills per set and Lisa Roberson previously held the single season record at 4.23 kills per set.

DeVries continues to impress everyone and continues to move up the record's ladder with 2,833 assists in her career. She is now No. 6 on the all-time list passing Jill Hendry who played for NM State from 1987-88. She is now behind Jessica Rombach (1996-99) who posted 3,031 assists in her career while Christine Jinbo tallied 4,294 from 1993-96 to sit atop the all-time list.

The Aggies finished 18-13 overall and 12-4 in league play in 2010, finishing in second in the regular season.
