21 Ronald Opetaia

2010 (Junior): Opetaia played in six games for the Aggies at the fullback position and on special teams.

2009 (Sophomore): Opetaia played fullback for the Aggies in 12 games during the 2009 season. He tallied 29-yards receiving on four catches. Opetaia helped Seth Smith become the first Aggie to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since 2000, as he was primarily a blocking fullback for the Aggies.

2008 (Redshirt Freshman): Opetaia played in all 12 games for NM State in 2008 at running back and on special teams. On the season, Opetaia carried the ball 22 times for 85 yards and touchdown. He also caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown. On special teams, Opetaia recorded one tackle. At Nebraska (9/13), he recorded seven carries for 39 yards. Versus Alcorn State (10/4), he tallied his first career touchdown run on three carries for 19 yards. In the Aggies' final home game against Louisiana Tech (11/22), Opetaia had two catches for 20 yards and his first career receiving touchdown.

2007 (Freshman): Opetaia redshirted in his first season at New Mexico State.

High School: A running back/cornerback at Fagaitua High School in Samoa, Opetaia helped lead his team to three straight island championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005, finishing as the island runner-up in 2006. As a junior, Opetaia started at cornerback, recording 36 tackles and three sacks. He also collected three interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. As a senior, he switched to running back, leading the team with 1,263 yards on the ground, while scoring 16 touchdowns. Opetaia was a three-time offensive player of the week and earned offensive player of the year honors at the end of the season. He was also a member of the Honor Roll all four years of high school.
