40 Michael Zant

2009 (Sophomore): Zant played in five games for the Aggies in the secondary and on special teams. On the season, Zant had one tackle against Nevada (11/21).

2008 (Redshirt Freshman): Zant started in all 12 games as an Aggie defensive back. Last season, he collected 28 tackles, which ranked him 10th on the team.  Against New Mexico (10/27), Zant recorded a season-high nine tackles.  He recorded five tackles against Alcorn State (10/4), four at Nebraska (9/13) and three at UTEP (9/20).  He also had six tackles against Nevada (10/11), No. 15 Boise State (11/1) and Utah State (11/29).

2006 to 2007: Zant was not with the team due to a mission.

2005 (Freshman): Zant redshirted during his first year with the Aggies.

High School: Zant was an honorable mention all-state and a first team all-district 3-5A pick in 2004. He was also a first team All-West Texas and All-Permian Basin pick. He had 125 tackles and four interceptions as a senior. Midland went 10-3. Midland defeated Burleson (31-10) and El Paso Franklin (34-30) before losing to Denton Ryan in the 2004 Class 5A division II regionals. It was the second playoff berth for the Bulldogs in the last three years. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his senior class.

Personal: Zant is the son of Jerry and Heidi Zant. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club in high school. He is majoring in business administration.
