Butler Country CC: Powell was a two year starter for the Grizzlies. As a sophomore, Powell tallied 65 tackles, an interception and eight defensive pass deflections. He also helped his team to a Junior College National Championship in 2007 and was named the defensive back of the game with seven tackles and an interception in the title game. Powell as helped his team to a 23-1 record in two years, as well as two league championships.

 

High School: As a safety for Wichita Northwest, Powell helped his team to a league championship and a district championship in 2005. He recorded 75 tackles, an interception, four fumble recoveries, four punt blocks and four pass break-ups. Powell was named a first team all-City and all-State selection in 2005.

 

Personal: Powell is the son of Teresa Hines and plans to major in criminal justice while at NMSU.
