2007 (Freshman): Waters was a walk-on for NMSU in 2007 and did not play.

High School: Mark was a standout defensive back and linebacker at Americas High School in El Paso, Texas. As a junior, Mark tallied 89 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. As a senior, he recorded 81 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions. He also earned New Comer of the Year honors in 2005 and was named an all-City selection in 2006.

Personal: Mark is the son of Nellie Waters. He plans to major in Kinesiology.
