Barris Grant
Assistant Coach

Barris Grant also joins the staff in 2008 as the Aggies’ new linebackers coach and along with Roberson has had a past association with coach Dunn. Grant came to NMSU from Meryhurst College where he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2007. He helped implement the 33 stack defensive scheme, while creating game plans and practice schedules. Prior to Meryhurst College, Grant was the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Irvington High School from 2006 to 2007, where we established the offensive schemes and organized and developed game plans and practice schedules. Grant then coached with Roberson at Benedict College form 2003 to 2006 as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator. He was in charge of recruiting assignments, developing recruiting databases and the creation and organization of the defensive strategies. Grant also helped Benedict to three consecutive post season appearances. Prior to Benedict College, Grant had his first go around at Irvington High School in 2002 as the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Grant was a student assistant for Coach Dunn at Mississippi State from 2000 to 2001, helping a scout team coach and assisting in recruiting efforts. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State in 2002 in Educational Psychology and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bloomfield College.
