2008 (Redshirt Freshman):  Thompson played in five games for the Aggies on the offensive line and on field goal team. He helped the Aggies offense rank ninth in the nation in passing offense, averaging 301.3 yards thru the air per game and 64th in total offense, averaging 355.6 yards a contest. Thompson was also part of an Aggie field goal team that went a perfect 33-of-33 on the season in extra point attempts and 7-of-11 on field goal attempts.

2007 (Freshman): Thompson red shirted during his first season with the Aggies.


High School: Derek was an offensive lineman for the Coronado Thunderbirds in 2006. He helped the Thunderbirds to a 9-2 record and a district championship. He was named and all-District first team selection, all-City first team, and an all-State honorable mention pick. Derek also played in the East-West All-Star game. He also lettered in track & field.


Personal: Derek is the son of Mark and Gay Thompson. He is undecided in his major.
