Franklin, Nixon and Wallace Sign Free Agent Deals

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Three former New Mexico State football players signed as undrafted free agents following the 2014 NFL Draft on Saturday evening, wide receiver Austin Franklin (St. Louis Rams), offensive lineman Davonte Wallace (Miami Dolphins) and linebacker Trashaun Nixon (New Orleans Saints).

 

Franklin (Dallas, Texas) caught 52 passes for 670 yards and seven touchdowns in just eight games this season. He played in 33 games for the Aggies over the last three seasons, catching 160 passes for 2,439 yards and 19 touchdowns, all of which rank him in the top-10 in school history. Franklin recorded 10 games during his Aggie career with over 100 yards receiving, while leading the team in receiving in 2012 and 2013.

Wallace (El Paso, Texas) was a four-year starter for the Aggies, starting in 48 straight games, mostly at the left tackle position. In 2013, Wallace allowed six sacks and recorded 50 knockdowns, while helping his team to a national ranking of eighth in red zone offense.

Nixon (Oxnard, Calif.) recorded 93 tackles on the year, leading NM State with 14 tackles for a loss and three sacks. For his career, Nixon tallied 189 tackles in just two seasons with NM State, adding five sacks and 23 tackles for a loss.
