LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State track and field team continues its 2014 outdoor season traveling to El Paso, Texas for the UTEP Invitational, Saturday, April 12.

This meet marks the second time the Aggies travel to El Paso this outdoor season and the fourth meet that they’ve had in the state of Texas.

NM State is coming off the Texas Tech Open (April 5), where its distance runners were able to show off some of their abilities with solid finishes despite having to battle to cold weather in Lubbock, Texas.

Junior Diana Hawk who won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:39.62 highlighted the meet. This marked the third consecutive week that Hawk has taken home the individual victory in this race.

The Aggies also found success in the 5000-meter run where three runners placed in the top 10. Junior Megan McNally led the Aggies with a third-place finish. Senior Sarabel Bojorquez finished fourth and senior Carly Porter finished seventh.

Sophomore Latrice Brooks also had a strong showing in the 800-meter run where she finished fifth overall. She was joined in the top 10 by fellow sophomore Ashley Hall.

Seniors Gael Sanchez and Christiana Barela also took first and second respectively in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

After the Aggies wrap up the UTEP Invitational they travel to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the UTSA Invitational on April 19.
