Banegas Named WAC Athlete of the Week

LAS CRUCES, N.M.—New Mexico State track and field athlete Jenna Banegas was named the Western Athletic Conference track athlete of the week for the week of March 17-23. This marks the first time Banegas has won this award.

Banegas, a graduate of Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, N.M., recently competed at the UTEP Springtime (March 22), where she set a personal best in both the 100-and-200-meter dash.

In the 100-meter dash, she finished fourth overall with a time of 11.76, which marks the best time posted in the WAC.

Banegas finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 24.39. She was also a part of the 4x100-meter relay team and she helped them finish second with a time of 46.23.

The Aggies will be in action on Thursday, March 27-29, when they travel to San Marcos, Texas to compete at the Bobcat Invitational.
