LAS CRUCES, N.M.—Head track and field coach Orin Richburg announced Tuesday that the NM State track and field team was named an All-Academic team for the 2013 Division I indoor and outdoor track and field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Teams must maintain a 3.00 cumulative team grade point average to earn the award. NM State maintained a 3.30 cumulative GPA during the indoor and outdoor season.
Coach Richburg announced that three individual athletes earned All-Academic honors for 2013. Seniors Kelsey Brennan and Courtney Schultz and junior Alishia Perkins were named to the All-Academic list.
Athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and must either finish the indoor season ranked in the national top 96 in and individual event or be ranked 48 in a relay event. For the outdoor season a student-athlete must participate in a round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
Schultz maintained a GPA of 3.41, while majoring in nursing, Perkins had a 3.5 GPA and is majoring in Psychology and Brennan maintained a GPA of 4.00, while majoring in education.
