LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State track and field team continues its 2014 outdoor season when it travels to Lubbock, Texas to compete at the Texas Tech Open on Saturday, April 5.
The Aggies are coming off another trip to San Marcos, Texas where they competed in the Bobcat Invitational (March 29). This week will mark the third straight week that the Aggies have traveled to Texas for a meet.
Junior Diana Hawk was the highlight of the last meet for the Aggies as she took home a first-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:34.67, which is the fastest time in the Western Athletic Conference this season.
Junior Tiffany Gerber was also a top finisher in the javelin throw, where she finished third with a throw of 41.86m (137’4”).
Senior Alishia Perkins helped the 4x100-meter relay earn a second-place finish with a time of 46.05. She also took fifth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.38.
Also a member of the relay team, junior Jenna Banegas competed in the 200-meter dash where she finished eighth with a time of 24.52.After the Texas Tech Open, the Aggies will make another trip to El Paso, Texas to compete at the UTEP Invitational on April 12.
