LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team will sport a newly designed football helmet in 2009, as head coach DeWayne Walker has moved back to the all crimson helmet, which will feature the NM State logo on the side. The helmet will feature a white face mask. Also on the back of the helmet will be the logo of the 2nd Engineer Battalion out of White Sands, as the Aggies honor the battalion for their service to our country.

“We changed the helmet because we wanted to change the look,” Head Coach Dewayne Walker said. “We wanted to try and create some consistency and establish a traditional look like a USC or Nebraska. The players input was important in this decision and I took their opinion into consideration. We wanted to create a look that will be identified with NM State football for years to come and we hope the community, students and faculty embrace this new look.”

The new helmet will be featured in marketing materials throughout the summer and fall as an identifying mark for NM State football.
