There’s a full day of fun coming your way Saturday, April 25. Ole Pete is here to tell you that is the day to get to know everything about Aggie football you might ever way to ask. I’m convinced of this because all Aggie fans can spend the entire day with head coach DeWayne Walker and his staff. That morning the first every DeWayne Walker Spring Golf tournament tees off. You don’t have to be a scratch golfer, because no one else in this group will be, but you do have to be ready to have some fun and talk some football.
The scramble format has a shotgun start at 8 a.m. If you happen to make it to five shots on a hole, coaches will be on various holes to take that fifth swing for you. It will give you a chance to get a drink and ask them what they plan to do on third and long or whether or not they’ll pull a blitz on first down or play it basic. Naturally all of this takes place at the NMSU golf course.
That is just the appetizer for the day’s events. The main course is that night at Aggie Memorial Stadium when the spring game unfolds. For those of you who have to work or maybe aren’t golfers, one event is not mandatory for the other. In other words, bring the kids, the in-laws, your uncles and everyone to the spring game to see the first phase of the development of Aggie football under
Ole Pete’s not gonna quit telling you that football season has got to be in your mind every month of the year. The spring game is another example of how this coaching staff is going above and beyond to get to know you and our town. That is because they know this program can only show its stuff when there is a partnership on the field and in the stands. There is a fee for the golf tournament, golfers expect that, but there is no admission charge for the spring game that night. Come on Aggie fans join in the fun,
