Nate Shaver

Nate Shaver returns to the NM State baseball team for a second year of coaching alongside head coach Rocky Ward.  This season he is working with the outfield and as a hitting coach. Shaver was the volunteer assistant coach in 2012.

 Shaver was the everyday right fielder for NM State from 2009-10 and was a 2009 All-WAC honoree, a 2010 WAC All-Tournament selection and a two-time WAC Hitter of the Week. During his career at NM State Shaver compiled a .355 batting average while recording 35 doubles, 159 hits, 86 walks, 109 RBI and 137 runs. After using up his eligibility to play Shaver played for the Haysville Heat of the Jayhawk league. He helped lead Haysville to a Jayhawk League Championship and a third place finish at the NBC World Series.

After the 2010 campaign, he was invited to join the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League for the 2011 season. After suffering a career ending arm injury, Shaver returned to NM State to pursue his M.S. degree in biology. He brings a hard working, old school, hard-nosed baseball mentality to the coaching staff.
