Women’s Basketball hosts Pete Newell Jr. Coaches Clinic

Las Cruces, N.M. – The New Mexico State women’s basketball team will host the first Pete Newell Jr. Coaches Clinic, Aug. 9-10, at the Pan American Center. The camp begins at 9 a.m. and will go until 3 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Sunday and is open to all interested coaches.
 
The price is $25 per person and sessions will be taught by head coach Mark Trakh, head women’s basketball coach at Mayfield High School, George Maya and the clinic’s namesake Pete Newell Jr.  
 
Newell Jr. is the son of Hall of Famer Pete Newell. He is a footwork technician that has coached and developed numerous NBA/WNBA players. Newell has over 30 years of coaching experience, which included over 500 wins at the college and high school level.
