Track and Field Signs Two for 2014-15

LAS CRUCES, N.M.—Head track and field coach Orin Richburg announced the signing of Kayli Farmer and Lashya Cole, two athletes that will join the 2014-15 New Mexico State track and field team.

Farmer was born in Farmington, N.M., and competed in track and field, basketball and soccer at Aztec High School in Aztec, N.M. She competed in the javelin and the high jump for the Tigers in her high school career and in her senior year she was part of the team that was both district and state champions. Farmer was also a member of the Tigers’ soccer team that finished second in state. Farmer set the school record in the javelin, was the individual state champion in the javelin and was a two-time state champion in the high jump. Farmer was also named to the Navajo Times All Star Team in soccer and was also second team All-State.

Cole competed in volleyball and track and field at West Orange-Stark High School in Orange, Texas.  In track, she was a sprinter and also competed in the long jump and triple jump. She finished seventh in the triple jump in the Class 3A stat meet. She finished second at the regional, area and district meets in the triple jump and was a regional qualifier in the 400-meter dash, 400-meter relay, 1600-meter relay and long jump. Cole was co-MVP three consecutive years and was the 2014 girls MVP in the district meet where she scored the most points.

Farmer and Cole will join an Aggies’ track and field team that finished fourth in the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
