Cross Country Prepares for Santa Clara Invite

LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State cross country team travels to Sunnyvale, Calif., for the Santa Clara Invitational Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Aggies travel o the Santa Clara Invitational after having a week off from competition.

In their last meet, the Aggies competed at the Rim Rock Classic (Oct. 5), where the women and men teams both took fourth-place finishes.

Junior Diana Hawk continues to lead the team and finished first for the Aggies, 17th overall, with a time of 22:31.89. This marked the fifth time that Hawk has paced the Aggies in all five races this season.

Junior Megan McNally finished second for the Aggies, 19th overall, in the last meet with a time of 22:33.23.

On the men’s side, junior Hab Rubio led the team and finished 16th overall with a time of 25:49.17. This was the first time that Rubio has finished first for the Aggies.

Junior Nathan Starr, who has paced the Aggies in four races this season, finished behind Rubio and 20th overall with a time of 26:19.52.

The Santa Clara Invitational is the last regular season meet for the Aggies. The team will have next week off before traveling to Seattle, Wash., for the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2.
