Nixon named to CFPA Watch List

CHARLOTTE, NC -- College Football Performance Awards recently announced its 2013 CFPA Defensive Awards Watch List, and Trashaun Nixon earned a spot on the 2013 CFPA Linebacker Trophy Watch List.

Nixon joins teammate Austin Franklin on the 2013 CFPA Watch List.

Nixon started all 12 games at linebacker for the Aggies for the 2012 season and was selected to the All-WAC second team for his efforts.  He recorded 96 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, one interception and four pass break ups on the season.  He recorded eight tackles per game, which ranked sixth in the WAC.  Nixon also ranked fifth with 9.5 tackles for a loss on the season. 

Nixon set a career-high in tackles with 15 in the first game of the season against Sacramento State (Aug. 30).  Nixon also set a career-high in tackles for a loss with two against Sacramento State, then later he recorded two again against Idaho (Oct. 6).  Nixon recorded a sack in two separate games with the first being against New Mexico (Sept. 22) and then against Utah (Oct. 20).
