BAKERSFIELD, Calif.— The New Mexico State baseball team was shutout for the third time this season after falling 4-0 to CSU Bakersfield at Hardt Field, Thursday, March 28.  With the loss, the Aggies fall to 14-13 overall and 1-3 in Western Athletic Conference play.  The Roadrunners improve to 18-8 on the season and 3-1 in league play.

Senior starter Adam Mott pitched effectively through five innings before giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth.  CSU  Bakersfield posted a triple that plated a the first run of the evening before a bunt single allowed the second run to come in.  The third base runner of the inning came home on a balk. Mott finished the game working 7.1 innings, while striking out eight batters and allowing just three walks.

It was the first ever WAC baseball game at home for the Roadrunners and their starter halted the Aggie bats as he threw his third complete game in his last four starts as he allowed just four NM State base hits. Junior right fielder Michael Medina was the only player with multiple hits going 2-of-3 at the dish with a walk.

The Aggie offense moved a runner to third base in the first two innings of the game but was unable to score.  The first inning ended on a double play with an Aggie runner being thrown out at home.

NM State faces the Roadrunners in game two of the series, Friday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. (MT) with senior lefty Ryan Beck starting on the mound.  Live stats will be available online at www.NMStateSports.com by clicking the Live Events link.
