Equestrian Wraps Up Season against Fresno State

Martin, Tenn. – The New Mexico State equestrian team wrapped up its 2012-13 regular season at the Skyhawk Invitational Saturday against Fresno State. The Aggies fell to the Bulldogs, 9-7 and end the season with a 4-9 overall record.


Against Fresno State the Hunter Seat team tied Fresno State 4-4 but won on raw score, while the Western team fell 5-3.


Lauren DeVoe was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament in Horsemanship, while Brynn Larson was named the Most Outstanding Player in Reining.


On the Western side, the Aggies’ DeVoe defeated Kirsten McKilop, 145-136 in Horsemanship, while Jessica Woolsey beat Shauna Woodward, 144-136. In reining, Stefanie Story picked up the lone win on the day with a 143.5-142 win over Ciara Kozlowski.


In Hunter Seat, Hannah Swarthout and Emily McConnell each took victories in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences. Swarthout beat Dayle Fischer in Flat, 152-144, while defeating Kimberly Hewsoln Budnik, 144-139.  McConnell had victories over Lanie Madrazo, 148-141 in Flat and a 162-138 win over Fischer in Fences.


NM State will now await selection for the National Collegiate Equestrian Championships.
