LAS CRUCES, N.M. (March 5, 2013)-The New Mexico State University volleyball team opens spring practice Tuesday, March 5 in Las Cruces with intense workouts going on through the next six weeks.
The Aggies will work on individualized skills and fundamentals before playing a few spring tournaments.
NM State plays two away matches, one at Arizona, Saturday, March 23 and the other against 2012 National Champion Texas at Austin, April 13.
"We're all looking forward to getting started. Spring practice is an important time for us and we'll all be working hard to improve, especially defensively," head coach Mike Jordan said "We're putting together a spring schedule where we'll play a lot of very good teams with great athletes in Arizona, Arizona State and Texas. We're also close to finalizing a match here at NMSU in late April for the home fans. It will be a fun six weeks."
The match versus Texas is scheduled to be televised on the Longhorn Network with broadcast information available on the Longhorn website.
The Aggies play two other matches this spring with undetermined dates and locations, but chances are, they will be at home in the Pan American Center.
NM State finished the 2012 season 22-11 overall and 12-6 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies got an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after they clinched the WAC Tournament title with a 3-1 win over Idaho, Nov. 21.
