Aggies conclude day two of WAC Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-The New Mexico State University track and field team finished day two at the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, with 10 Aggies qualifying for the finals and two championships already in the books.

Sophomore Diana Hawk finished third in the1-mile with a time of 5:02.24 and will compete in the finals tomorrow.  Senior LaSasha Aldredge and junior Brianna Cromartie finished first and second respectively in the 400m and will both compete tomorrow in the finals.  Aldredge finished in a time of 53.98 and Cromartie finished in a time of 54.18.  In the 60m, junior Alishia Perkins finished seventh in a time of 7.58 and will compete tomorrow in the finals. 

Four different Aggies qualified for the finals in the 200m.  Cromartie, Perkins and Aldredge finished second, third and fourth respectively.  Cromartie finished in a time of 23.93, Perkins in a time of 23.96 and Aldredge in a time of 24.04.  Sophomore Jenna Banegas finished eighth with a time of 24.56 and will also compete in the finals tomorrow.

For the long distance, Courtney and Camille Schultz finished first and second respectively in the finals for the 5,000m.  Courtney grabbed the individual title with a time of 17:05.70 and Camille finished second with a time of 17:21.62.

On Friday, junior Zoe Meade claimed the individual championship in the heptathlon with a score of 3,735.
