Menís Tennis Continues Play at ITA Mountain Regional

Las Vegas, Nev. – Seven Aggies continued play in the round of 64 singles bracket Thursday at the 2012 ITA Mountain Regional. Daniel Fernandez was the lone Aggie to win the main draw bracket with a three set victory over Quentin Mege of Nevada, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Fernandez now advances to the round of 32.

 

Luis Ramirez, who received a BYE in the first round was defeated by Mikolaj Caruk of Montana in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Yannick Blank fell in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 to Utah State’s Fredrik Peterson.

 

Naveen Manivannan also fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, while Germain Degardin and Marc Westgate were beat in their match ups as well. Strahinja Trecakov lost in a hard fought three set match to Scott Sears of Boise State, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

 

Ramirez, Blank, Manivannan, Degardin, Westgate and Trecakov all moved to the back draw bracket of the tournament.

 

In doubles, the team of Ramirez and Westgate defeated Montana’s Caruk and Warren, 8-6, advancing to the round of 16.

 

The Aggies will be back on the court Friday morning for the third day of competition.
