LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Oct. 9)-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team opens the 2012-13 regular season at home this weekend. NM State hosts Air Force, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the natatorium. The event is free and open to the public.
"Air Force is a much improved and solid team," head coach Rick Pratt said. "I believe they will matchup very well with us and provide us with some great challenges."
The Aggies returned 12 swimmers, including four seniors, and one diver from last year's team that broke 10 school records and a program-best 12 NCAA 'B' cuts in 2011-12. NM State also has 11 freshmen on this season's squad.
"They have good middle distance swimmers and freestylers, and it will have to be a team effort to win this dual," Pratt said. "We've been training great, and I am excited to see how we do in our first real competition. Our freshmen will really have to step up and put forth some good effort."
