RENO, Nev.-New Mexico State junior guard Jahmar Young was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District VIII Team, the organization announced Tuesday, March 9. He leads the Aggies with a team-high 20.9 points per game and earned all-district honors for the second consecutive year.
“It was quite an honor for Jahmar to be selected to the first team All-WAC, however, to be given this accolade for a larger region shows how valuable he is to our team,” head coach Marvin Menzies said.
The USBWA Men’s All-District Teams are based on voting from its national membership. There are nine regions from coast to coast and a player and coach of the year are selected in each.
The Aggies open the WAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed against No. 6 seed San Jose State, Thursday, March 11 at 9:30 p.m.
